Meet the People Behind the Bubbles

Every Bubble Has a Story

When you press the button on your SodaStream machine and hear that satisfying fizz, you're experiencing the result of hundreds of decisions made by hundreds of people. The shape of the machine. The feel of the button. The way the bottle connects. The balance of a flavor. The strength of a material.

None of it happened by accident. All of it happened because someone cared.

The Designers

The design team's job sounds simple: make something that works, looks right, and earns its place on a kitchen counter. In practice, it means hundreds of prototypes, countless arguments about proportions, and the kind of obsessive attention to detail that most people will never notice — which is exactly the point.

"The best design is the kind people don't think about," says one of the industrial designers behind the Art machine. "They just use it, and it feels right. That's the goal."

The Engineers

Inside every SodaStream machine is a carbonation mechanism that has to work thousands of times over years of daily use. The engineers spend their days thinking about pressure, materials, tolerances, and failure modes that the average user will never encounter — because the engineers made sure they wouldn't.

They test machines in heat, cold, humidity, and hard use. They think about the person who presses the button too hard, the child who drops the bottle, the family that uses the machine three times a day for a decade.

The Flavor Experts

Creating a flavor that works with sparkling water is a different challenge than creating a flavor for still drinks. The carbonation changes everything — it amplifies some notes, suppresses others, and changes the way the drink feels in your mouth.

The flavor team tastes constantly. They work with fruit extracts, natural flavors, and food scientists to find the balance that makes someone reach for a second glass. Many combinations get abandoned. The ones that make it through have earned their place.

The Factory Teams

In the facilities where SodaStream machines and bottles are made, the people on the production floor bring the designs to life. They notice things that computer models miss. They solve problems that engineers didn't anticipate. They take pride in what comes off their line.

"We know these machines will be in people's homes for years," says one production team leader. "That matters to us. We want them to be right."

The People You Never See

There are also the people in logistics, customer service, sustainability, and dozens of other roles who make the experience work from first purchase to tenth year of use. They rarely appear in product photography. They don't get mentioned on the box. But they're part of every bottle of sparkling water you make at home.

The next time you hear that fizz, you'll know a little more about where it came from.
